Pricing and billing

Storage Buckets cost $0.50 per GB per month. The charge comes out of your runtime credits, the same wallet your services use. There is nothing to pay up front, and no minimum.

How the charge is worked out

You pay for the storage you actually keep, for the time you keep it. Kuberns measures every file's size and how long it was stored, adds it all up as GB-hours, and prices each GB-hour at $0.50 divided by 720 (the hours in a 30-day month).

You store For You pay
1 GB A full 31-day month About $0.52
10 GB A full 30-day month $5.00
100 GB 15 days About $25.00

Uploading a file starts the charge for it, deleting it stops the charge, and replacing a file charges for the new size from that moment.

Downloads are not billed separately.

When credits are deducted

Credits for storage are taken once a day, shortly after midnight (UTC), for each day that has finished. You do not need to do anything.

  • Stored now is the total size and number of files across your buckets.
  • This month so far is what storage has cost since the start of the month.
  • Projected for the month estimates the month's total from the days completed so far.
  • The chart shows what each day cost.

On your monthly bill

Your monthly invoice has a Storage Buckets section below the usage breakdown. It shows the GB-hours you stored, your average storage in GB, the rate, and the cost, and the cost is included in the invoice's Total Amount. Build minute packs you bought appear in a Build Minutes section in the same way.

If your credits run out

If your credits cannot cover the day's storage charge, the amount you owe is recorded, and you have 6 days to top up before your buckets are deleted. Kuberns emails you at the start, with three days left, and with one day left.

While you owe, you can still:

  • list, open, and download your files,
  • delete files, which brings the bill down,
  • delete buckets,
  • change a file's visibility, and read from your application with your credentials.

While you owe, you cannot:

  • upload files,
  • create folders,
  • create buckets.

A request that is paused answers 402 from the API, with a message that tells you to top up.

To clear it, add credits to your account. The amount owed is taken from your balance the next time storage is billed, which is within a day, and everything switches back on.

If it is still unpaid on the deletion date in the emails, every bucket you own and every file in it is permanently deleted. There is no way to get it back. Your account and your credentials stay, but you cannot create new buckets until the amount owed is paid. Paying only part of what you owe does not move the deadline.

To avoid this, keep enough credit to cover your storage, or turn on automatic recharge.
