Create and manage buckets
Open Buckets in the sidebar. My Buckets lists every bucket you own with its region, size, number of objects, and creation date.
Before you start
- You need a paid account. Accounts on the free trial cannot create buckets.
- Your first bucket needs at least one running service. If you have none, the Create Bucket button is disabled and tells you why.
Create a bucket
- Open Buckets → My Buckets.
- Select Create Bucket.
- Enter a name and confirm.
The bucket is ready in a few seconds and appears in the list.
Bucket names
A name is how you recognise the bucket in the dashboard. It must:
- be 3 to 40 characters long,
- use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens,
- start and end with a letter or a number, never a hyphen,
- be unique among your own buckets.
Two different accounts can use the same name.
The bucket identifier
Behind the name, every bucket has an identifier such as kb-product-assets-3f9a1c2b7d4e. It is the name you chose with a random suffix added, so it is unique across Kuberns.
Your application uses the identifier, not the name, in every API call. You get it from the bucket field when you create a bucket or list your buckets.
Open a bucket
Select a bucket name to open it. The page shows the bucket's files and folders, with each file's size, type, and last modified time. Images show a small preview.
Upload files
- Open the bucket, and open a folder if you want the files to go inside it.
- Select Upload files, or drag files anywhere on the page.
- Wait for the progress bar to finish.
A single file can be up to 1 GB in the dashboard. Files keep their names. Uploading a file with the same name as an existing one replaces it, and the new file starts out private.
Folders
Select New folder and enter a name to organise files. Folders can be nested, for example reports/2026. Select a folder to open it and use the breadcrumb above the list to go back up.
A folder is part of a file's path rather than a separate object: a file named reports/2026/summary.pdf appears inside the 2026 folder inside reports. An empty folder stays visible until you delete it.
Download a file
Use the download icon on a file's row. The browser downloads it directly.
Delete files
- Tick the checkbox next to one or more files.
- Select Delete in the bar that appears and confirm.
Deleted files cannot be recovered, and any link you shared for them stops working.
Delete a bucket
Use the delete icon on the bucket's row. Kuberns asks you to type the bucket's name to confirm, because deleting a bucket permanently removes the bucket and everything inside it. There is no recycle bin and no restore, and every link you shared from the bucket stops working immediately.
Deleting files or a bucket lowers your storage bill from that point on.
